Dr. Douglas Jefcoat
DVM
Doctor Jefcoat was born in Soso, Mississippi and reared on a family dairy farm. He completed his high school education at Ellisville High School, in Ellisville, MS. Pre-veterinary training was completed at Jones County Junior College and Mississippi State University. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Dr. Jefcoat returned to Laurel and joined Dr. Clyde Odom in the practice of veterinary medicine at Odom Animal Clinic which is now Sawmill Animal Hospital, P.A.
Dr. Jefcoat is married to Cheryl T. Jefcoat and has two daughters: Lani J. Gautier (Brian) and Rebecca J. Day (Wesley) and twin three-year-old grandchildren Sara Beth and Mahlon Day. Memberships include First Baptist Church of Laurel, American Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, Kiwanis Club of Laurel, and EDA of Jones County which continues to be part of Dr. Jefcoat’s commitment to the community.
Dr. Jefcoat currently resides on a dairy farm with his wife Cheryl and seven cats (Gabby, Felix, Ace, Ossi, Ellie, Yellow Son, and Grayson). Areas of special interest in veterinary medicine include surgery of soft tissue and orthopedics along with canine and feline medicine. Dr. Jefcoat’s hobbies include gardening, tree farming, and dairy farming.
Dr. Randall Moore
DVM
Doctor Randy Moore was raised in the edge of Jones County in the Summerland community on the family farm, raising broilers and cattle. He is a graduate of Taylorsville High School. His undergraduate studies were completed at Jones County Junior College, Millsaps College (Jackson, MS), and Mississippi State University. Dr. Moore received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University in 1980.
Upon graduation from Veterinary School, Dr. Moore joined Dr. Doug Jefcoat at Sawmill Animal Hospital. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, and has served as president of the Jones County School Board. Dr. Moore enjoys surgery and medicine of large and small animals as well as the relationships developed with his clients.
Dr. Moore married Meg Mayfield in 1975, and they are members of First Baptist Church of Laurel. Together, they have three children: Ben (Meredith) Moore, Margaret Ann (Wesley) James, and John Randall (Leslie) Moore. Dr. Moore enjoys gardening, LSU sports, and traveling with his family.
Dr. Ned Hinton
DVM
Doctor Ned Hinton is a native of Jones County, Mississippi. He grew up in the town of Soso and attended West Jones High School, Jones County Junior College, and Mississippi State University. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from MSU in 1982. His career as a veterinarian began in 1982 as an employee of Sawmill Animal Hospital, P.A. in Laurel, MS.
He continues in that mixed animal practice today as a partner with Drs. Douglas F. Jefcoat, Randall R. Moore, Lance R. Jefcoat, and Kent E. Holifield. Although he enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, his primary interests are internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Hinton holds memberships in the American and Mississippi Veterinary Medical Associations and the American Heartworm Society.
He is a member of the Laurel Exchange Club, Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, and Old Antioch Baptist Church. Dr. Ned Hinton resides on a small farm in the Springhill community of rural Jones County with his wife, Jamie, and son, Dan. Their daughter, Emily, lives and works in the Laurel area.
In addition to a small beef herd and Quarter Horses, they share their lives with four-legged friends: Walley, Izabelle, M.J., Princess, Abby, and Britches. Dr. Hinton enjoys farm work, reading, hunting, and traveling with his family.
Dr. Lance Jefcoat
DVM
Doctor Jefcoat was born and raised in Jones County, MS on his family’s poultry and cattle farm. He completed high school at West Jones High School and then attended Jones County Junior College. Undergraduate studies were completed at Mississippi State University. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from MSU in 2004. Dr. Jefcoat joined Sawmill Animal Hospital, P.A. as an associate veterinarian in 2004.
He is a member of the Laurel Kiwanis Club, American Veterinary Association, Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, and volunteers with other organizations as well.
His professional interests are in large animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Jefcoat and his wife, Roxanna, have three children: Maryanna, Ella, and Sara Kate. Their church home is Soso First Baptist.
Dr. Dania Cervantes Linares
DVM
Doctor Dania Cervantes Linares was raised in Hattiesburg, MS, and graduated from Forrest County Agricultural High School. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Jones College and Mississippi State University. Dr. Cervantes Linares received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University in 2025.
Dr. Cervantes Linares is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Cervantes Linares’ primary interest in veterinary medicine is soft tissue surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Cervantes Linares enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, cooking, and going to concerts.
Brittany Adams
Practice Manager
My name is Brittany Adams, and I have been a resident of Jones County for 35 years. I am married to my husband, Casey Adams, where we live in the Moselle area.
I am a member of Fairfield Baptist Church, the Philanthropic Director for The Ellis Club, and co-owner of Cotton Top Candles. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, spending time with family and friends, spoiling numerous nieces and nephews, and being outdoors. Before coming to Sawmill, I served in the food industry and management for 13 years.
I am beyond excited to join the team at Sawmill Animal Hospital. I look forward to building relationships with my co-workers and our sweet pets that come into the clinic. I can’t wait to form new customer relationships and to serve the great people of Jones County!
Taylor Bynum
Receptionist Lead
Taylor Bynum is the Lead Receptionist at Sawmill Animal Hospital and has been part of the veterinary field since 2011. With a strong passion for animals and a heart for compassionate client care, she helps ensure every pet and family feels welcomed and supported. Outside the clinic, Taylor enjoys antique shopping, making homemade goods, and weekend trips with her family, including her husband Auston, daughter Braelyn, German Shorthaired Pointer Fern, and red-footed tortoise Rocky.
Toni Rainey
Vet Technician Lead
Toni Rainey, a Jones County, MS native, graduated from South Jones High School in 2005 before attending Jones County Junior College. She began her career at Sawmill Animal Hospital in March 2007 as a kennel technician at the sister clinic, North Jones Animal Hospital. In 2008, Toni transitioned to grooming, where she spent the next nine years honing her skills. In 2017, Toni moved to Sawmill Animal Hospital as a receptionist. Her dedication and commitment led to her advancement to Veterinary Technician in 2024, where she continues to provide exceptional care to patients.
Outside of her professional life, Toni resides in the Soso area with her husband, Wayne, their two children, Alex and Piper, and their three beloved pets: Charlotte (dog), Dunkin (dog), and Tip (cat). She enjoys spending quality time with her family, sharing after-work dinners with friends, cooking, and reading.
Jake Noble
Kennel Lead
My name is Jake Noble. I was born and raised here in Laurel on a chicken farm, and I’ve continued to work with animals for most of my life. I worked in animal rescue for five years and still support rescue efforts whenever I can. I’ve been at Sawmill Animal Hospital since December of 2024. When I’m not here, I’m traveling the country playing music.

Dr. Karen Crocker
DVM
Dr. Karen Crocker has returned home!
Dr. Crocker was born and raised in Laurel, MS. She attended Calhoun Elementary School and graduated in 2000 with Highest Honors from West Jones High School. Throughout her life, Dr. Crocker has been very active in her community and during high school she was a member of Serteens, Key Club and a local chaplain and National Vice President of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) with the vocational school in Laurel. She went to Mississippi State University served as a campus envoy, conversation (language and culture guide for students from other nations) partner and was a member of both the main campus honor council and the veterinary college honor council. She was a full time resident assistant and later served as a conference assistant for the housing department. Dr. Crocker was meanwhile hitting the books and in seven years earned two degrees: A Bachelor of Animal and Dairy Science and the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
After earning her doctorate, Dr. Crocker moved near Memphis, TN and served as an associate and relief veterinarian for the Greater Memphis area for nearly 9 years. Dr. Crocker then moved to Cleveland, TN and served as an associate and relief veterinarian for the greater Chattanooga area for another 9-10 years. Dr. Crocker has returned home to family and is now serving as the primary veterinarian at the North Jones Animal Hospital location in Laurel, MS.
Dr. Crocker has special interest in preventative medicine and enjoys meeting new clients every day to help make their and their furry friends lives better. In her free time, Dr. Crocker loves to read and watch and analyze movies and explore and travel. She has been to the Middle East, Mexico, and Europe and hopes to see more of the world and experience its beautiful geography and facinating cultures throughout her life. She has fabulously horrible Malti-Shizoo named “Peek-A-Boo” that chases cars and barks too much. She also has a very intellegent, active and shy German Shepherd named “Millie.” Meanwhile, “Cuddles” (an overweight tabby cat) keeps the family in line since she has claimed the boss position of the house. “Oh, Henry” (a red tabby male cat) prefers to sleep most of the time with “Mille” in the sunshine since he has retired his duties after 19 long years of service.
Brooklynn Roberts

Hi, my name is Brooklynn Roberts. I started working at Sawmill Animal Hospital in February 2023, and I’ve been in veterinary medicine for 6 years. What began as a summer job quickly grew into a true passion for caring for animals and helping their families.
I’m from Clarke County and have grown up surrounded by animals—from showing livestock to raising and training hounds. I now share my life with my giant schnauzer, Indiie, who is also my service dog in training.
When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love being part of the Sawmill team and making sure our patients receive the very best care.
